BMW Drivers Guide

The BMW Driver's Manual put the clunkiness of traditional users guides into the palm their hand. Outside of what is commonly expected within a user's manual, the guide gave users the ability to search for common key words and submit photos to decode the often confusing dashboard indicators.

More Than A Pretty Picture

Lets face it, driver’s manuals can be confusing and clunky. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words… even more when you’re able to interact with it. Allowing the user to virtually explore the ins and outs of their vehicle helped to add clarity to often confusing illustrations and diagrams that come with standard automotive print materials. While working within some substantial technical constraints, we were able to successfully maintain consistency across the supported device landscape. (iOS / Android)

Elevating Search

Printed material make it hard to search for things. User research indicated that BMW users were initiating google searches when encountering issues with their automobiles rather than referencing the comprehensive manual that was sitting at an arms length.

Giving users the ability to natively invoke a search query within the context to the drivers guide became one of the products core requirements.

Location Services

This was created as environmentally conscientiousness was beginning to gain traction within the automotive space. Charging stations weren’t always as easy to find. This user's manual helps owners plan their trip by preemptively mapping stations along their route.
